Ingredients

1 fully cooked bone-in ham (approximately 7-8 pounds)

2 cups apple cider

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup Dijon mustard

1/2 cup honey

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground cloves

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Fresh herbs (such as rosemary or thyme, for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 325°F (160°C), ensuring it reaches the desired temperature for even cooking.

Prepare the Ham: Place the bone-in ham on a roasting rack situated inside a large roasting pan. Using a sharp chef's knife, score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, cutting about 1/4 inch deep. This technique allows the glaze to seep into the ham, enhancing both flavor and presentation.

Create the Glaze: In a medium saucepan, set over medium heat, combine the apple cider, packed brown sugar, Dijon mustard, honey, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, ground nutmeg, apple cider vinegar, and black pepper. Stir the mixture gently until the sugar has completely dissolved. Allow it to simmer for 10-15 minutes, which will help the glaze thicken slightly.

Apply the Glaze: Once the glaze has thickened, use a basting brush to coat the scored ham generously with half of the apple cider glaze. Carefully transfer the ham to the preheated oven. Bake for approximately 1 hour, basting the ham with the remaining glaze every 20 minutes to develop a rich flavor.

Check the Temperature: The ham is fully cooked when an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C) is reached. If necessary, you can extend the baking time by an additional 30 minutes, continuing to baste to keep the ham moist and flavorful.

Carve and Serve: Upon completion, remove the ham from the oven and allow it to rest for 15 minutes. This resting period helps the juices redistribute. After resting, carve the ham into slices, arrange them beautifully on a serving platter, and drizzle with any remaining glaze for extra flavor. Garnish with fresh herbs for an aromatic presentation.

Enjoy: This sweet and spicy apple cider glazed ham is a perfect centerpiece for holiday gatherings or special occasions. Your guests will be delighted by its unique flavor profile!
