Ingredients

6 medium tart apples (such as Granny Smith), peeled, cored, and sliced

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup rolled oats

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup brown sugar, packed

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional: Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish by greasing it with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.

Prepare the Apples: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and salt. Toss all the ingredients until the apples are well coated with the mixture.

Layer the Apples: Transfer the coated apple mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the apples, ensuring they are generously covered.

Make the Oat Topping: In a separate bowl, mix together the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, and brown sugar. Pour in the melted butter and add the vanilla extract. Stir until the mixture becomes crumbly and combined.

Spread the Topping: Evenly distribute the oat topping mixture over the layer of caramel-coated apples, ensuring complete coverage.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. The dish is ready when the apples are tender and the topping turns a beautiful golden brown.

Finishing Touch: Once baked, remove the apple crisp from the oven and drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the top while it's still warm for an extra layer of sweetness.

Serve: Allow the crisp to cool for a few minutes before serving. For a decadent treat, pair it with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
