Ingredients

9 lasagna noodles

2 cups ricotta cheese

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 large egg

1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (such as basil, oregano, and thyme)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) so it’s hot when you’re ready to bake the lasagna.

Cook the Noodles: In a large pot, bring salted water to a rolling boil. Cook the lasagna noodles for 8-10 minutes, or until they are al dente. Drain the noodles and set them aside on a clean kitchen towel to prevent them from sticking together.

Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, dried Italian herbs, salt, and pepper. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

Build the Lasagna Base: To prevent sticking, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Layer the Lasagna: Begin layering the ingredients:

            - Place 3 cooked lasagna noodles horizontally across the sauce.

              - Evenly spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.

                - Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the ricotta layer.

                  - Drizzle 1/3 of the marinara sauce over the mozzarella layer.

Repeat the Layers: For the second layer, add:

                      - 3 additional lasagna noodles on top.

                        - The remaining ricotta mixture, spreading it evenly.

                          - Another 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, creating a mouthwatering layer.

                            - Another 1/3 of the marinara sauce distributed evenly.

                              Finish with the Final Layer:

                                - Lay down the last 3 noodles.

                                  - Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the noodles.

                                    - Top generously with the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese for a lovely finish.

Bake the Lasagna: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil (making sure it doesn’t touch the cheese) and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 25 minutes.

Uncover and Brown: After 25 minutes, carefully remove the foil and return the lasagna to the oven to bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is perfectly bubbly and golden brown.

Rest Before Serving: Once baked, remove the lasagna from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes to set, making it easier to cut.

Garnish and Enjoy: Just before serving, garnish with fresh basil leaves for a fragrant touch. Serve warm and savor every bite of your delicious Cheesy Delight Lasagna!
