Ingredients

4 salmon fillets (approximately 6 oz each)

1/4 cup honey

4 cloves garlic, finely minced

2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for a gluten-free option)

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Fresh chives or parsley, chopped, for garnish

Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and Dijon mustard. Whisk thoroughly until all ingredients are well-blended. Set aside 1/4 cup of this marinade for later use.

Marinate the Salmon: Season both sides of the salmon fillets with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Place the fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for enhanced flavor.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the salmon.

Sear the Salmon: In a large oven-safe skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium-high heat. Once the butter has melted and is bubbling, carefully remove the salmon fillets from the marinade, letting any excess drip off. Gently place the salmon fillets, skin-side down, into the hot skillet. Sear for approximately 3-4 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and turns a golden brown.

Bake the Salmon: After searing, carefully flip the salmon fillets over so the flesh side is up. Brush the fillets with some of the reserved marinade. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily when tested with a fork.

Glaze and Serve: Once baked, remove the skillet from the oven and give the salmon a final brush with any remaining marinade for added flavor. Allow the salmon to rest for a few minutes before serving. Plate the salmon and garnish with chopped chives or parsley, and provide lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the top.
