Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup whole milk, warmed to about 110°F (43°C)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the Filling:

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

1 cup pecans, chopped

For the Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tbsp pure maple syrup

2-3 tbsp milk (adjust for desired glaze consistency)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine the warmed milk and melted butter, allowing it to cool slightly before whisking in the eggs. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a shaggy dough begins to form.

      Knead the Dough:

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until the texture is smooth and elastic. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

          Make the Filling:

In a small bowl, mix together the packed brown sugar and ground cinnamon until well combined. In another bowl, ensure that the softened butter is spreadable and creamy.

              Roll Out the Dough:

Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release any air. Transfer it to a lightly floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle measuring approximately 16x12 inches.

                  Spread the Filling:

Evenly spread the softened butter across the surface of the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the butter, then top with the chopped pecans, ensuring an even distribution.

                      Roll and Cut:

Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log shape. Pinch the seam to seal the roll. Using a sharp knife or unwaxed dental floss, carefully slice the log into 12 equal rolls.

                          Second Rise:

Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll for expansion. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and allow them to rise again for about 30 minutes, or until they appear puffy.

                              Preheat the Oven:

While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

                                  Bake the Rolls:

Bake the cinnamon rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top. If they seem to brown too quickly, cover them lightly with aluminum foil halfway through baking.

                                      Prepare the Glaze:

While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk in a small bowl until the mixture reaches a smooth, drizzling consistency. Adjust the amount of milk according to your preferred thickness.

                                          Glaze and Serve:

As soon as the rolls come out of the oven, drizzle the warm maple glaze over them generously. Allow the rolls to cool for a few minutes before serving to enhance the flavors.

                                              Prep Time, Total Time, Servings:

                                                30 minutes | 2 hours | 12 rolls

                                                  - Presentation Tips: Serve the cinnamon rolls warm, either in the baking dish or arranged on a rustic wooden platter. For an extra touch, sprinkle more chopped pecans on top and drizzle a bit more maple syrup just before presentation.
