1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets, washed

1 cup bell peppers (mix of red and yellow), sliced into thin strips

2 cloves garlic, finely minced

2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated or minced

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon vegetable oil (plus extra if needed)

1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (to create a slurry)

3 cups cooked rice (white or brown)

2 green onions, finely chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Prepare the Rice: If you haven't cooked your rice yet, do so by boiling 1 cup of uncooked rice in water according to the package directions. Once cooked, set the rice aside and keep it warm.

    Marinate the Beef: In a mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef sirloin with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, the cornstarch slurry, and half of the minced garlic. Mix well and let it marinate for about 10 minutes to enhance the flavors and tenderness of the meat.

      Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it starts to shimmer.

        Cook the Beef: Add the marinated beef to the hot skillet, ensuring it is in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned on the outside but still slightly pink in the center. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
