Ingredients

2 cups frozen edamame (in pods)

3 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, finely minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust according to your spice preference)

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon honey or agave syrup

1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice

Salt, to taste

Chopped cilantro or sliced green onions, for garnish (optional)

Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Edamame: Fill a medium pot with water, add a generous pinch of salt, and bring it to a rolling boil. Carefully add the frozen edamame pods to the pot and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until they are bright green and tender. Once done, drain the edamame and set them aside.

Prepare the Spicy Sauce: In a large skillet, warm the olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the minced garlic along with the red pepper flakes. Sauté the mixture for about 1-2 minutes until the garlic becomes fragrant, taking care not to let it brown as this can alter the flavor.

Combine and Flavor: Carefully add the drained edamame to the skillet. Stir well to coat the pods evenly in the garlic and oil mixture. Next, pour in the soy sauce, sesame oil, and honey (or agave syrup). Mix thoroughly until the edamame is well-coated and heated through, about 2-3 minutes.

Finish and Garnish: Once heated, remove the skillet from the heat. Drizzle the freshly squeezed lime juice over the edamame and sprinkle with salt to taste. Transfer the mixture to a serving bowl, and for an extra touch, top with chopped cilantro or sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds if desired.

Enjoy Your Creation: Serve the dish warm as a delicious snack or appetizer, perfect for sharing or savoring all on your own. Delight in the spicy, garlicky flavors that bring this dish to life!
