Ingredients

1 large round loaf of bread (choose either sourdough or Italian for optimal flavor)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (or substitute with 1 tablespoon dried parsley)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

Optional: 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes for an extra spicy kick

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking.

Prepare the Loaf: Set the round loaf of bread on a sturdy cutting board. Carefully use a serrated knife to make deep cuts in a crisscross pattern across the top of the bread, ensuring not to cut all the way through to the bottom. Aim for approximately 1-inch wide sections to create pull-apart pieces.

Make the Garlic Butter: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped fresh parsley, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes if you prefer some heat. Stir well until completely combined.

Stuff the Bread: Gently pull apart the cuts in the bread and generously brush the garlic butter mixture all over the insides and outsides of the loaf. Make sure to get the mixture into the cracks and crevices between the sections for maximum flavor.

Add the Cheese: Take the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese and carefully tuck them into the cuts of the bread, filling each section generously to create a melty, cheesy experience.

Wrap for Baking: Tightly wrap the entire loaf in aluminum foil, making sure it is securely covered. This will trap steam during baking, which will help to melt the cheese perfectly.

Bake: Place the wrapped bread directly onto the oven rack and bake for 15-20 minutes. For a crispy, golden top, carefully remove the foil and continue to bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and the top is beautifully golden brown.

Serve: After baking, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for about a minute. Pull apart the warm, cheesy garlic bread and enjoy it straight away while it’s deliciously gooey!
